Pratik Jain, co-founder of Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), filed a counter petition at the Calcutta High Court against the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) recent raid on his residence and I-PAC’s office. The petition has been accepted by Justice Suvra Ghosh.
Earlier, the ED accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of obstructing their duties during the same raid. Both petitions, by the ED and Jain, will be heard together by the same Bench on Friday.
The ED defended its actions, stating they were related to an alleged coal smuggling syndicate and not linked to I-PAC’s political affiliations. The upcoming court hearing is eagerly awaited by many.
The Trinamool Congress announced that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will lead a protest against the ED’s actions, starting with a rally in South Kolkata at 2 p.m. on Friday.
