Pravin Kumari, a 26-year-old goalkeeper from Himachal Pradesh, has defied social norms and personal challenges to excel in women’s football. At the Khelo India Beach Games 2026 in Diu, her resilience and crucial saves led Himachal Pradesh to a remarkable 7-5 victory over hosts Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
Hailing from Khatgaon village, Pravin, the youngest of three siblings, balances her football career with a job as a physical education teacher. Despite facing societal disapproval, she trained alongside boys to pursue her passion for football, eventually inspiring other girls to join. This informal group evolved into a competitive team that now participates in local tournaments.
Participating in Beach Soccer for the first time, Himachal Pradesh faced challenges adapting to the unique beach conditions. Despite a leg injury sidelining Pravin temporarily, her return to the field proved crucial as she guided her team to victory. Pravin emphasized the need to maintain momentum for future competitions, highlighting the team’s potential for further success.
