A pregnant Bengali woman, Sunali Khatun, who was deported to Bangladesh last year, has given birth to a baby boy in India. Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee expressed his joy and plans to visit her at Rampurhat Medical College and Hospital. Banerjee highlighted the injustice faced by Khatun, who was wrongly labeled as a Bangladeshi and forcibly deported.

Abhishek Banerjee praised Khatun’s resilience in the face of adversity, calling her ordeal a violation of dignity. Khatun, along with her eight-year-old son, returned to India following a Supreme Court order. Despite her return, Khatun’s husband and others remain stranded in Bangladesh. The group, including Khatun, was arrested in Delhi on suspicion of being Bangladeshi infiltrators, despite possessing valid citizenship documents.

Khatun’s case prompted legal action to bring her back to India. She is currently receiving medical care at Rampurhat Medical College and Hospital. The situation underscores the challenges faced by individuals wrongly accused of citizenship violations and the importance of upholding human rights.
