A tragic road accident near Aravakurichi in Tamil Nadu’s Karur district claimed the lives of three individuals, including a pregnant woman and her husband, with their two-year-old daughter and another person sustaining serious injuries. The deceased were identified as V. Aravind, 30, his eight-month pregnant wife A. Janani, 28, and the car driver, P. Veera, 40. Aravind and Janani were residents of Karuthi Veeranpatti near Usilampatti in Madurai district, while Veera hailed from Nethaji Nagar in Usilampatti.
The couple, along with their daughter, was returning to Madurai district from Bengaluru in a car driven by Veera on the Karur–Dindigul National Highway when the accident occurred near the Esanatham Cross Cut Road junction. The collision, which involved a motorcycle ridden by P. Pandithurai attempting a sudden right turn across the highway, led to the car crashing into a stationary van parked on the roadside. The impact was severe, resulting in fatal injuries for Aravind, Janani, and Veera, while their daughter and the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries.
Following the accident, a team from the Aravakurichi police station conducted rescue operations, extracting the injured from the wreckage and rushing them to a hospital for emergency treatment. The bodies of the deceased were recovered and sent for a postmortem examination. The incident caused temporary traffic disruptions on the national highway before normal movement resumed. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the tragic crash.
