Preparations for the nationwide Census 2027 have started in Assam with training programs launched for Enumerators and Supervisors in the House Listing Operation (HLO) and Housing Census in Kamrup district. The training, which began on Monday, will run until August 8, focusing on equipping field personnel with the necessary technical knowledge and skills for accurate data collection. The program will be rolled out in phases across all 11 Revenue Circles of Kamrup district, including areas like Palashbari, Hajo, and Rangia.

The training aims to familiarize Enumerators and Supervisors with census procedures, data collection methods, and field protocols to ensure precision and efficiency during the enumeration process. Kamrup District Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra inaugurated the training at Dakshin Kamrup College in Mirza, emphasizing the importance of conducting the exercise with transparency and responsibility. Mishra highlighted the significance of accurate census data for evidence-based governance, developmental planning, and resource distribution.

Enumerators and Supervisors were urged to adhere strictly to Census guidelines during fieldwork, as even minor inaccuracies could impact planning and policy decisions at various government levels. The phased training program is designed to ensure that all personnel are well-prepared before the House Listing Operation begins, which precedes the Population Census. The House Listing Operation involves gathering detailed information on residential buildings, households, and housing conditions, laying the groundwork for the subsequent Population Census.

The Census is a significant administrative endeavor in India, offering essential demographic, socio-economic, and housing data crucial for policy-making, development planning, and welfare initiatives at national, state, and local levels.
