Preparations are in full swing in Gujarat’s Somnath for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s involvement in the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav, commemorating 75 years since the restored Somnath Temple’s inauguration. Artists, devotees, and visitors from various parts of Gujarat have started arriving to witness the grand celebrations at the historic temple town. The Prime Minister is set to offer prayers at the Somnath Temple and engage in religious, administrative, and community-related activities in Gir Somnath and Vadodara districts.
Authorities have implemented extensive security measures in and around Somnath ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit. Elaborate welcome programs and cultural events have been arranged for the occasion. PM Modi is expected to partake in the Vishesh Maha Puja, Kumbhabhishek, and Dhvajarohan ceremonies during the event. Additionally, he will release a commemorative stamp and coin to mark the 75th anniversary celebrations of the restored shrine.
Large crowds in traditional attire have gathered at the venue, with folk artists and cultural troupes from across the state preparing traditional dance and musical performances to welcome the Prime Minister. The president of the Gujarat Rajya Lok Kala Mahasangh mentioned that over 220 artists have been invited to showcase their art at the event. Participants in the cultural celebrations expressed excitement over the Prime Minister’s visit, with various groups and teams ready to perform in his honor.
Devotees have also assembled at the Somnath Temple to offer prayers and join in the festivities. The Indian Air Force’s Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team is scheduled to conduct a special aerial display over the temple, with six Hawk Mk-132 aircraft performing coordinated aerobatic formations. The air display, set for May 11 at 11 a.m., will take place in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
