On the eve of Republic Day, President Droupadi Murmu sanctioned 131 Padma Awards for the year 2026. These awards, among the highest civilian honors in India, are categorized as Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri, recognizing exceptional service in various fields like art, social work, science, sports, and more. The awards, announced annually on Republic Day, are presented by the President at ceremonial functions held at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
The list of awardees for this year includes five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri recipients. Notably, the list comprises women, foreigners, NRIs, PIOs, OCIs, and posthumous awardees. The recipients come from diverse backgrounds and have excelled in their respective fields, showcasing outstanding contributions to society.
