President Droupadi Murmu made history by co-piloting the HAL Light Combat Helicopter Prachanda from Jaisalmer Air Force Station. During the 25-minute sortie, she observed border areas and the Pokhran Field Firing Range from the cockpit, saluting and addressing the nation via radio.
Accompanied by Group Captain N.S. Bahua, President Murmu familiarized herself with the helicopter’s operational systems during the flight. This flight adds to her record of flying in advanced military aircraft, including fighter jets like Sukhoi Su-30MKI and Dassault Rafale.
President Murmu’s sortie precedes the Vayu Shakti 2026 military exercise at Pokhran Field Firing Range, where she will witness the Indian Air Force’s combat capabilities, including precision strikes and coordinated air operations.
