President Droupadi Murmu and Myanmar’s President U Min Aung Hlaing met at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, where President Murmu expressed India’s strong support for Myanmar’s peace efforts. Emphasizing the shared Buddhist heritage and longstanding people-to-people ties, President Murmu described Myanmar as India’s gateway to Southeast Asia.
During their discussions at Hyderabad House, PM Modi and President Hlaing agreed to enhance bilateral relations and cooperate in trade, investment, connectivity, development partnership, capacity building, security, and border management. PM Modi reiterated India’s commitment to being Myanmar’s trusted neighbor and reliable partner, offering support for peace and dialogue in Myanmar.
President U Min Aung Hlaing’s visit to India, his first since taking office, includes engagements in Mumbai for business interactions and site visits. The visit underscores the significance of strengthening relations between the two countries, building on their shared historical and cultural connections.
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also met with President Hlaing, expressing mutual appreciation for deepening bilateral cooperation. President Hlaing’s visit aligns with India’s regional policies, aiming to deepen ties and promote peace, progress, and prosperity in the region.
