Vishwanath Mandal, also known as Bodra, surrendered before a court in Jamshedpur regarding the murder case of Himanshu Singh, a Karni Sena youth leader. Mandal, believed to be the main plotter of the crime, had been evading authorities since the incident. A reward of Rs 2 lakh was offered for information leading to his capture, while police had already apprehended nine suspects and detained a juvenile in connection with the case.
Police raids were conducted in Jharkhand and other states to locate Mandal, who turned himself in after mounting legal pressure. Sharp-edged weapons, such as choppers, axes, machetes, and knives, were seized during the investigation from the individuals arrested. Neeraj Singh, the owner of Double Down Bar, was also arrested in Rajasthan and questioned in relation to the incident after being brought to Jamshedpur on transit remand.
The murder occurred outside the Double Down Bar in Jamshedpur on June 27, where Himanshu Singh was allegedly assaulted with sharp-edged weapons and fatally injured. The altercation reportedly began when Himanshu and a friend intervened in response to alleged harassment of women by a group of youths within the bar. Despite seeking refuge in a police vehicle, Himanshu was forcibly removed by the attackers in front of law enforcement and attacked. He later succumbed to his injuries on June 29, sparking public outcry over law enforcement and police conduct.
