The prime accused, Siya Goyal, and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary are set to appear before the Vadgaon Court as their police remand ends. Lonavala Police will request an extension of custody and permission for polygraph tests as part of the ongoing investigation. This hearing is crucial for the high-profile murder case, with the court’s decisions shaping the next phase of the probe.
The accused will be presented before the Vadgaon Court at 3 p.m. by the Lonavala Police. Initially granted seven days of custody, it was extended by four more days to delve into 18 key aspects of the case through intensive interrogation. Police seized suspected crime-related clothes, a mobile phone, and relevant documents from Siya Goyal’s residence.
During the investigation, Siya Goyal was taken to a cafe in Pune’s Lullanagar area, believed to be where the murder conspiracy was planned. The police recorded her statement and inspected electronic evidence linked to the case. The court is considering the police’s request for polygraph tests on both accused, with Siya Goyal consenting while Chetan Chaudhary’s stance remains unclear.
The court’s decisions on custody extension and polygraph tests will steer the investigation’s direction. If denied extended custody, the accused may be transferred to Yerwada Central Jail under judicial custody. Siya and Chetan are accused of pushing Ketan Agarwal to his death from a cliff at Lohagad Fort in Pune after rehearsing the crime and preparing for potential police interrogation.
