Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the people of Maharashtra for backing the Bharatiya Janata Party and its Mahayuti alliance in the recent Zilla Parishad elections. The alliance, comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, secured a significant victory by winning 552 out of 731 Zilla Parishad seats and over 1,000 Panchayat Samiti seats.
The BJP emerged as the top performer within the coalition, securing 225 seats, followed by the NCP with 165 and Shiv Sena with 162 seats. This success follows their previous wins in the 2024 Assembly elections and recent municipal polls. Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude to the people of Maharashtra for their continuous support, emphasizing the mandate for efficient governance and development rooted in the state’s cultural heritage.
The results underscore the alliance’s strong presence in local governance, especially after their success in urban civic bodies like Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur. The voter turnout of around 68.28 percent in the Zilla Parishad polls indicates active participation and solidifies the Mahayuti’s standing in Maharashtra.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlighted the public’s trust in the alliance’s performance across urban, semi-urban, and rural areas.
