During the swearing-in ceremony, Shivakumar paid respects to Veera Gangadhara Ajja, his spiritual guide, before taking the oath of office while holding a copy of the Constitution. The event commenced with Vande Mataram and the National Anthem performed by the Karnataka State Police Band, followed by the state anthem.
Several senior Congress leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, attended the ceremony. Alongside Shivakumar, thirteen ministers also took oath as part of the new Karnataka government. G. Parameshwara, a prominent Dalit leader, was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister.
Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son, Yathindra Siddaramaiah, and ex-Speaker U.T. Khader were among the notable ministers sworn in during the initial cabinet formation.
