Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Odisha on Saturday to participate in a significant event at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district, commemorating two years of the BJP government in the state. Joining him will be President Droupadi Murmu, marking a rare occasion where Odisha will host the top two constitutional functionaries of the country together.
The visit is expected to draw national attention to Odisha and highlight the state’s increasing importance in the political and developmental landscape of India. Scheduled activities include a visit to Pahadpur, the President’s in-laws’ village, where both dignitaries will offer prayers at various locations, emphasizing educational opportunities, skill development, and socio-economic empowerment in tribal and rural areas.
Later in the day, the President and Prime Minister will take part in a program at Rairangpur, focusing on the completion of two years of the Odisha Government under the theme “Vikas ra Dhara, Odisha Sara.” The program will include the inauguration and foundation stone laying of developmental projects worth over Rs 47,600 crore in sectors like energy, infrastructure, connectivity, health, education, and more.
The Prime Minister is also expected to address a large public gathering at Rairangpur, emphasizing the projects’ role in enhancing infrastructure, connectivity, energy security, and employment opportunities across Odisha. These initiatives aim to boost growth in tribal and rural regions, ensuring development reaches every part of the state.
Various projects, including the Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project, IB Thermal Power Station Expansion, Municipal Solid Waste-based Biogas Plant, and infrastructure developments like bridges, roads, and irrigation projects, will be inaugurated. These projects are designed to enhance healthcare and public transport infrastructure in Odisha, benefiting the residents across the state.
Security arrangements have been beefed up by the Odisha Police in and around Rairangpur and other locations in the district ahead of the visit by the Prime Minister and the President. President Murmu will begin her two-day visit to Odisha by arriving in her native district of Mayurbhanj on Friday evening.
