The management of a private junior college in Hyderabad’s Old City area filed a police complaint against a BJP leader and his supporters. They were accused of forcibly entering the college and intimidating staff to produce records, alleging that Rohingya Muslim children were enrolled there. The incident, which took place at Nooria Cooperative Junior College in the Edi Bazar area, instilled fear among both staff and students, as reported by the college principal, Mohammed Ghaziuddin.
Huzaifa, a lecturer at the college, clarified that student admissions strictly adhere to Board of Intermediate norms and are based on valid refugee cards. The BJP leader, Sriramulu Yadav, had alleged that the college was admitting children of illegal migrants. He claimed to have found students of various foreign nationalities studying there, not just Rohingya. Additionally, he accused the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) of supporting the college in enrolling Rohingya students.
Sriramulu Yadav demanded the state government derecognize the college for allegedly admitting children of illegal migrants. He also questioned AIMIM’s stance on electoral roll revisions, insinuating a motive to protect illegal migrants from Myanmar and Bangladesh. The college authorities reportedly presented admission records and identity documents for students identified as Rohingya, along with Class 10 certificates, in response to these allegations.
