Global icon Priyanka Chopra recently lauded actress Namrata Shirodkar, a former beauty queen, by sharing an old pageant video of Namrata on social media. In the clip, Namrata confidently introduces herself during the Miss Universe 1993 competition, where she represented India and reached the top six finalists, impressively wearing a sash labeled “India.”
Priyanka’s post, captioned “Once a queen always a queen @namratashirodkar @urstrulymahesh,” reflects a gesture of admiration from one beauty queen to another. Notably, Priyanka herself clinched the Miss World 2000 title.
Both Priyanka and Namrata ventured into Bollywood after winning the Miss India titles in 2000 and 1993, respectively. While Priyanka continues to excel in her acting career, Namrata chose to step away from films post her marriage to Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu in 2005.
In various interviews, Mahesh Babu highlighted how he emphasized the importance of family values to Namrata early in their relationship. Namrata, aligning with this vision, prioritized her family life, leading her to retire from Bollywood at the peak of her career.
Namrata Shirodkar, known for her roles in films like “Pukar” and “Vaastav,” tied the knot with Mahesh Babu in Mumbai on February 10, 2005. The couple shares two children, son Gautam Krishna Ghattamaneni and daughter Sitara Ghattamaneni.
