Producer Vashu Bhagnani expressed his disappointment as Varun Dhawan did not reach out to him after their film ‘Coolie No. 1’ faced losses in 2020. Bhagnani, involved in a legal dispute with David Dhawan and Tips Industries, filed a lawsuit in Bihar over the film ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’, alleging unauthorized use of intellectual property from older hits like ‘Biwi No.1’. Despite the bitterness in their relationship, Bhagnani stated that Varun had not contacted him for two years, even after the financial setback.
The legal conflict stemmed from the use of the song ‘Chunari Chunari’ from ‘Biwi No.1’ in the upcoming film. Bhagnani expressed his heartbreak over being portrayed negatively by Varun Dhawan and others, emphasizing his commitment to integrity. He offered to resolve the issues quickly if the other parties were willing, highlighting the sudden change in their attitude towards him.
Bhagnani emphasized that while Tips Industries held audio rights, his consent was necessary for film-related intellectual property and recreations. He lamented the breakdown of their once-strong relationship and the current accusations against him, urging for a resolution through communication and mutual understanding.
