Railway premises in Lucknow were disrupted by a protest led by Pallavi Patel, a legislator from Sirathu and leader of Apna Dal (Kamerawadi), demanding immediate implementation of the University Grants Commission Equity Regulation 2026. The protest involved around 350 to 400 party workers, both men and women, carrying flags, banners, and posters, while chanting slogans.
The situation intensified as Patel and her supporters breached the railway premises without authorization, running towards platform number one and even descending onto the railway tracks between platforms one and two. They climbed onto an inspection vehicle stationed on the railway line, continuing their disruptive behavior by leading chants within the railway zone.
Authorities, including Inspector Bhupendra Singh and police personnel, intervened to control the escalating protest. After a 10-minute confrontation, Patel and her supporters were escorted out of the station by the police around 1.25 p.m. The actions of Patel and her party workers were deemed as unauthorized entry into railway premises and creating a nuisance, leading to the registration of a case under Sections 147, 145, and 156 of the Railway Act.
Despite the volatile circumstances, arrests were not made on the spot to prioritize maintaining law and order. A case has been filed against Patel and other unidentified party workers, with ongoing investigations. The matter has been escalated to senior officers and forwarded to the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Railway Court, Lucknow, for further legal proceedings.
