The Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), labeled a terrorist organization by Pakistani authorities, has called for large-scale protests on July 5 in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). JAAC leader Sardar Amman Khan urged PoK residents to join the protests to voice their grievances against Pakistani authorities. The United Kashmir People’s National Party (UKPNP) expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in PoK, accusing Pakistani authorities of harsh crackdowns on activists and imposing severe restrictions.
The UKPNP alleged that essential supplies like food and medicine have been deliberately cut off in PoK, and there have been reports of an assassination attempt and arrests of activists. They criticized the Pakistani government for resorting to violence and propaganda against Kashmiris in PoK. The UKPNP emphasized the need for peaceful dialogue and urged an immediate cessation of force and the lifting of the ban on JAAC.
The ongoing protests in PoK have escalated into a significant challenge to Pakistan’s authority, with local leaders accusing the Pakistan Army of arming Kashmiris. JAAC leader Sardar Amman Khan revealed that the Pakistan Army supplied weapons to Kashmiris, challenging the narrative labeling them as terrorists. The protest movement in PoK is centered on 38 demands, and leaders warn of escalating the agitation if their demands are not met promptly.
