The official election affidavit of Vikram Kakade, a surprise candidate for Mahayuti in Pune, discloses his significant personal wealth and a notable personal loan of Rs 10 crore to Jay Pawar, the son of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister. Kakade, a construction magnate and former national-level shooter, declares total family assets worth Rs 153 crore, positioning him as one of the wealthiest contenders. The revelation of luxury assets and the substantial loan to Jay Pawar has sparked political discussions and highlighted Kakade’s close ties to the party’s top leadership.
Vikram Kakade, recognized as a confidant of NCP MP Parth Pawar, received assurance for his candidacy directly from Parth. According to his election affidavit, Kakade’s assets amount to around Rs 150 crore, with movable assets valued at Rs 78,95,65,531, including cash and bank deposits. Alongside gold, silver, luxury boats, watches, and cars, Kakade has extended significant multi-crore loans to various individuals and entities, including Jay Pawar and corporate figures.
The decision to nominate Vikram Kakade has stirred past rivalries within the NCP, particularly with Ajit Pawar and Anil Bhosale. This move has left local leaders discontent, with grassroots workers feeling overlooked. Despite criticisms, party leaders defend Kakade’s nomination, emphasizing that it was a leadership decision. Jay Pawar assures that justice will be served to those who missed out on nominations this time, maintaining party unity and purpose.
