A liquor vendor in Pune, Rahul Kshirsagar, who was allegedly involved in selling toxic alcohol that led to the deaths of over 13 people, has himself died after consuming the same lethal brew. Reports indicate that Kshirsagar had a case registered against him for the illegal sale of illicit liquor at Hadapsar Police Station on May 13.
In response to the tragic deaths caused by the consumption of poisonous country liquor in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, the Pune Police administration has taken action by suspending three police officers from the Hadapsar Police Station. The suspended officials, including Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Mogle, Assistant Police Inspector Hasina Sikalgar, and Police Sub-Inspector Hasan Mulani, were involved in the crime investigation wing at the station.
An official order issued by the police department stated that a case was registered at the Hadapsar Police Station on May 29 under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, 1949. Investigations revealed that the accused had illegally manufactured toxic liquor by mixing it with poisonous substances and knowingly sold it, resulting in multiple deaths.
The police department, in its suspension order, highlighted the severe negligence and oversight failures of the officers involved, leading to the tragic incident. The incident has sparked public outrage and questions about administrative efficiency, prompting the police to take swift action to address the situation and restore public trust in law enforcement.
