The Pune Rural Police have filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR) at the Baramati Taluka Police Station following the fatal plane crash that took the life of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. An investigation is currently ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash. Teams from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) are at the crash site to investigate and establish the cause of the accident.
All aspects related to the accident are under scrutiny by the police. The ADR will be transferred to the Maharashtra Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation based on the AAIB team’s findings. Meanwhile, the final rites of Deputy Chief Minister Pawar have commenced in his native village of Kathewadi in Baramati.
Family members, relatives, and numerous supporters are gathering at the Pawar family farms in Kathewadi to pay their final respects. Simultaneously, preparations are in progress at the Vidya Pratishthan Ground in Baramati for Ajit Pawar’s funeral ceremony, which is expected to be attended by senior leaders from various political parties.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and other senior political figures are expected to participate in the funeral to honor the late leader. In light of the tragic incident, the Maharashtra government has declared a three-day state mourning period. During this time, the national flag will be flown at half-mast on all government buildings in the state as a mark of respect.
Deputy CM Pawar and four others lost their lives in the Learjet 45 aircraft crash near Baramati Airport. The aircraft, registered as VT-SSK and operated by VSR Ventures, carried Deputy CM Pawar, a personal security officer, a flight attendant, and two crew members. The deceased individuals have been identified as Vidip Jadhav, Pinky Mali, PIC Sumit Kapur, and SIC Shambhavi Pathak, according to the passenger list.
