Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar criticized the ruling AAP and Opposition Congress in the State Assembly, alleging they are collaborating to distract from real state issues. Jakhar highlighted a supposed understanding between the two parties, where the Opposition refrains from questioning the government on public matters, opting for walkouts, while the AAP passes resolutions unrelated to public welfare.
Jakhar specifically mentioned the delay in passing a law on religious sacrilege despite a special session in July 2025, urging the Assembly Speaker to address the issue. He emphasized the lack of justice in cases related to the sacrilege of the Guru Granth Sahib, challenging the Leader of Opposition to raise the matter in the Assembly.
The BJP leader criticized the state government for sending buses to Rajasthan for painting instead of utilizing local industries, questioning the motives behind such decisions. He also raised concerns about illegal mining activities in Punjab, revealing discrepancies in royalty collection and fines imposed, suggesting collusion between illegal miners and the government.
Jakhar pointed out the lenient fines imposed on illegal mining activities compared to the National Green Tribunal’s prescribed penalties, indicating a systemic issue in the state’s mining sector.
