The Punjab BJP criticized the Shiromani Akali Dal and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal for their stance on the “Veer Bal Diwas” observance. BJP spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal highlighted that the Akali Dal had previously supported the term “Bal Diwas” for commemorating the martyrdom of the Sahibzadas. Baliawal pointed out the contradiction in the Akali Dal’s current opposition to the term after the BJP-SAD alliance ended.

Baliawal emphasized that during their alliance, sensitive issues were discussed and resolved through mutual consultation, but the Akali Dal’s recent opposition seemed to be for political reasons. He stressed that the BJP, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, has always respected Sikh history and traditions. Baliawal urged the Akali Dal not to exploit religious sentiments for political gains and to reconsider their current stance.

Former Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal criticized the Central government’s advertisement on Veer Bal Diwas, calling it a direct attack on Sikh principles. She expressed concern over the government ignoring Sikh sentiments and traditions in naming the martyrdom day of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’. Kaur urged the Centre to halt such advertisements.
