Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar criticized the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab for allegedly rejecting a significant number of the party’s candidates’ nomination papers in the local body elections. Jakhar stated that the BJP would challenge these rejections in court to prevent unfair election practices. He claimed that the government unfairly targeted BJP candidates in constituencies where the party had a strong presence, with 21 rejections in Batala, 10 in Moga, 11 in Barnala, and three in Dhuri, among others.

Jakhar accused the government of following a divisive political strategy and criticized officials for not ensuring fair elections. He warned Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann against disregarding democratic norms and called for an investigation into a project’s tendering process. Jakhar also raised concerns about corruption issues linked to the government and highlighted the Central government’s efforts to maintain fertilizer subsidies for farmers amid rising international prices due to the Gulf conflict.
