Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon criticized the demolition of a part of the 125-year-old Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha in Farooqabad, Pakistan, by land mafia elements. The building, recognized as a “historic monument” by the Pakistan government, faced damage despite a ban on demolition. Dhillon expressed concern over the safety of Sikhs in Pakistan, citing incidents of violence and attacks on gurdwaras.
The State BJP Chief highlighted recent brutal murders of a gurdwara caretaker and his wife in Pakistan. He emphasized the need for the Pakistan government to address these issues seriously and halt the demolition of the gurdwara building immediately. Dhillon stressed the importance of safeguarding Sikh heritage structures and ensuring the rights and safety of the Sikh community in Pakistan.
The Union Ministry of External Affairs also condemned the demolition, labeling it a “highly deplorable and targeted act of vandalism” against the revered Sikh shrine. The Ministry called on Islamabad to investigate the incident, restore the damaged portions of the gurdwara, and protect the well-being of religious minorities in the region.
