Newly appointed Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon expressed optimism that following the victory in West Bengal, the BJP is poised to secure power in Punjab during the 2027 Assembly polls. Dhillon highlighted the challenges faced by Punjab, including drug issues, gang violence, unemployment, and agricultural concerns, emphasizing the need for development similar to BJP-led states.
He underscored the commitment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP President Nitin Nabin to elevate Punjab as a leading state. Dhillon targeted opposition parties like AAP, Congress, and SAD, asserting that only the BJP can rejuvenate Punjab from its current state of distress.
Referring to the successful BJP governance in Haryana, Dhillon pledged to replicate similar initiatives in Punjab, including ensuring Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops, creating job opportunities, and establishing semiconductor plants for the state’s advancement. Despite the party’s limited seats in the previous election, Dhillon expressed confidence in receiving a majority mandate from the people in the upcoming polls.
In a strategic move ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections, the BJP appointed Kewal Singh Dhillon as the new state president, replacing Sunil Jakhar, with a focus on bolstering the party’s presence in the state.
