Punjab BJP spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal criticized the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party’s alliance in state politics, likening them to “birds of a feather flocking together.” Baliawal highlighted that votes for Congress in local elections indirectly benefit AAP, alleging a covert collaboration between the two parties. Despite AAP not securing clear majorities in various Punjab Municipal Corporations and Councils, Congress members reportedly supported AAP in forming governments and electing Mayors, going against public mandates. This alleged political understanding was evident in cities like Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Jalandhar.
Baliawal pointed out instances where Congress representatives, despite being elected against AAP, voted for AAP candidates in elections for Zila Parishad and Block Samiti Chairpersons in places like Phagwara, Baghapurana, and Kotkapura. He emphasized that this behavior disrespected the people’s choices. Baliawal asserted that the people of Punjab have realized the collaboration between Congress and AAP for power politics, criticizing their failure to address critical public issues like law and order, youth welfare, farmers’ concerns, employment, and overall state development. In contrast, he positioned the BJP as the sole party in Punjab consistently advocating for public interests and serving as the genuine opposition on public matters. Baliawal urged voters to make informed decisions in the upcoming elections to strengthen the BJP’s position.
