Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann revealed that Talbir Singh Gill, an AAP leader, will contest from Majitha in the 2027 Assembly polls. He assured the public that Punjab will not regress into sacrilege and lawlessness, emphasizing the importance of development and respect for Akal Takht Sahib. Addressing a gathering in Majitha, CM Mann highlighted the eradication of fear instilled by past oppressive regimes in the region.
He condemned the previous reign of terror orchestrated by a prominent figure with ties to both Congress and Akali governments, emphasizing the shift towards people-driven governance. CM Mann praised the community for rejecting intimidation tactics employed by influential families in Majitha’s political landscape. He warned against a potential return of dark times if Akali Dal regains power, citing past atrocities and sacrilege incidents.
The Chief Minister underscored the state government’s commitment to investigating the missing ‘saroops’ of Guru Granth Sahib, attributing the necessity of a Special Investigation Team to the misdeeds of Akalis and SGPC. CM Mann criticized SGPC President Harjinder Singh Mann for prioritizing political events over core responsibilities. He emphasized the welfare initiatives for border residents and highlighted efforts to facilitate farming near the International Border.
