Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reiterated that the Akal Takht holds the highest authority in the Sikh community. He stated that all government officials, including ministers, MLAs, and the Vidhan Sabha Speaker, will appear before the Akal Takht to present the government’s stance with respect.
Mann emphasized that the directives of the Akal Takht Sahib are of utmost importance and will be followed sincerely. He also mentioned plans to provide information about a fake video featuring his impersonator. The Chief Minister criticized opposition parties for politicizing the issue and urged against mixing politics with religion.
Accompanied by Arvind Kejriwal, Mann highlighted the significance of the Akal Takht Sahib as the supreme temporal seat for Sikhs. He expressed readiness to comply with any orders from the Takht with reverence. Mann stressed that the respect for the Akal Takht is paramount and that all government representatives will present themselves humbly before it.
Mann underlined his deep respect for the Akal Takht Sahib, stating that its commands are supreme for him and his family. He pointed out the need to distinguish between religious and political decisions, raising concerns about biased actions by political appointees in religious roles. The Chief Minister vowed to uphold the sanctity of the Akal Takht and abide by its directives faithfully.
Addressing the issue of posters calling for his social boycott, Mann questioned the selective targeting compared to past incidents involving other political figures. He criticized the SGPC for its actions and emphasized the importance of public support. Mann reiterated his commitment to serving the people of Punjab and denounced attempts to tarnish his image for political gain.
In response to allegations aimed at defaming him on religious grounds, Mann defended his focus on public welfare issues such as employment, healthcare, and education. He dismissed the attempts of rival political parties to discredit him and highlighted his dedication to the overall development of Punjab. Mann assured that the government would communicate with the Jathedar regarding the fake video incident to clarify the situation.
