Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann initiated the construction of the Dhussi Bund Link Road project in Jalandhar district, a 37.93-km-long road aimed at addressing the persistent flood issues in the Satluj belt. Costing Rs 61.82 crore, the project will not only serve as a crucial road link but also enhance flood protection for 15 villages, benefiting numerous families.
The project is strategically designed to combat the historical flood challenges that previous administrations failed to resolve. By mitigating flood risks and alleviating traffic congestion on key routes, the initiative is set to stimulate economic growth and bolster the state’s infrastructure development efforts.
During the project’s foundation stone laying ceremony, attended by Rajya Sabha MP Sant Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal and others, CM Mann emphasized the government’s commitment to tangible outcomes over empty promises. He highlighted the road’s significance in fortifying the Sutlej river embankment and shielding local communities from flood-related threats.
The new road is expected to offer convenient daily commuting options for around 15,000-16,000 residents residing in the vicinity, connecting important roads and providing a bypass to reduce traffic congestion. Particularly beneficial during monsoon seasons, the road will facilitate smooth transportation for farmers, school buses, and the public.
