Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann initiated a Rs 137-crore rural link road project in Khemkaran, emphasizing the AAP government’s focus on enhancing infrastructure and public services in border areas. Mann also highlighted advancements in canal irrigation, employment opportunities, and educational reforms. He assured comprehensive development in the region, addressing the historical neglect of border areas by previous governments.
Mann underscored the state’s industrial policy, offering incentives to industrialists establishing units in border regions for the first time in Punjab’s history. He emphasized the government’s commitment to welfare, particularly for the patriotic residents of these areas. The Chief Minister stressed on employment generation initiatives aimed at steering youth away from social vices, highlighting the government’s efforts in providing over 63,000 government jobs.
Discussing irrigation achievements, Mann noted a significant increase in canal water utilization for irrigation purposes since assuming office. The government’s focus on canal system rejuvenation has led to improved water access for tail-end farmers, with plans to further enhance irrigation efficiency. Significant investments have been made to revitalize the canal network, benefiting numerous villages, alongside ongoing road construction projects to enhance rural connectivity.
