In a rematch of last year’s final, Punjab FC successfully defended their AIFF Junior League title by triumphing over Minerva Academy FC in a thrilling 5-3 penalty shoot-out after a 1-1 draw in regular time at the Bambolim Athletic Stadium in Goa. Punjab FC took the lead with a goal from Jasmeet Singh in the 38th minute, while Minerva Academy FC equalized through Md Azam Khan in the 49th minute.
During the penalty shoot-out, Punjab FC’s Pawandeep Singh, Aayush Koul, Akash P, Kabyansh Rai, and Jasmeet Singh scored, securing the victory. For his standout performance, Augustasya Gupta was named Player of the Match, and Jasmeet Singh received the Player of the Tournament award.
Minerva Academy FC initially dominated possession and created several chances in the first half, but Punjab FC gradually regained control. Despite Minerva’s efforts, Punjab FC managed to break the deadlock with Jasmeet Singh’s goal. The second half saw intense action, with Minerva Academy FC equalizing through Azam Khan’s individual brilliance.
The match remained level, leading to a penalty shoot-out where Punjab FC emerged victorious. Punjab FC’s solid performance and nerve in the shoot-out secured their title defense.
