The Punjab government has introduced a registration portal for play-way schools to enhance the monitoring of children’s education, safety, and overall growth. Minister for Social Security, Women, and Child Development Baljit Kaur announced that registration on this portal is mandatory for all play-way schools and private schools catering to children under six years old. A standardized curriculum for children under six is in the works, to be applied in Anganwadi centers, play-way schools, and primary schools.
Highlighting the significance of early childhood care, Minister Kaur emphasized that a child’s brain development is most active between zero and six years. Hence, ensuring quality education and nutrition during this critical phase is a key focus of the Punjab government. Additionally, Mission Aarambh aims to involve parents actively in their children’s daily learning activities. Through digital content sharing, parents are encouraged to engage in their children’s learning process at home. Over 2,900 parent groups have been established under this initiative to boost parental involvement in children’s cognitive development.
Regarding infrastructure enhancements, the Minister disclosed plans to construct 1,000 new Anganwadi centers, with 700 already completed. These modern centers, costing Rs 100 crore in total, are equipped with well-ventilated rooms, kitchens, and toilets. Each center incurs approximately Rs 10 lakh in expenses. The remaining 300 centers are nearing completion, ensuring improved facilities for children’s early education.
