Punjab’s Local Government Minister, Harjot Singh Bains, initiated ‘Mission Clean Punjab’ to enhance urban sanitation. The mission involves daily ground inspections by all civic officials from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. The drive, supported by AI technology, will include surprise checks and weekly progress reports on cleanliness.
The initiative divides every urban local body into 10-km zones, each overseen by a supervisory officer such as Additional Deputy Commissioners and Municipal Corporation Commissioners. All officials are required to conduct field visits daily during the designated hours. Minister Bains and supervisory officers will monitor progress closely.
As part of the mission, officers must carry smartphones with cameras and internet connectivity for real-time reporting. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will oversee the drive, ensuring accountability among officials. The goal is to achieve tangible, visible improvements in cleanliness across Punjab’s cities and towns.
The drive emphasizes transparency and accountability, with a focus on delivering measurable outcomes. Minister Bains stressed the importance of officials being visible on the ground to demonstrate the impact of the cleanliness efforts. The initiative aligns with Chief Minister Mann’s vision for a cleaner Punjab, reflecting a commitment to community well-being.
