Amidst heightened security measures for Republic Day, Punjab Police conducted flag marches in sensitive areas across the state. Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav instructed police officials to ensure foolproof security arrangements in their respective areas. Police teams, led by Commissioners of Police (CPs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), marched in vulnerable districts to boost public confidence and prepare for any potential incidents. Security has been intensified with 20,000 police personnel deployed to maintain vigilance and ensure peaceful Republic Day celebrations.

Special Director General of Police (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla mentioned that officers conducted flag marches to enhance public confidence and readiness among police personnel. Additionally, a special cordon and search operation (CASO) was carried out under the supervision of a SP-rank officer at various crowded locations like railway stations, bus stands, markets, and public parks. The police emphasized friendly and polite interactions with individuals during security checks to maintain a positive atmosphere.

In a continued effort against drugs, Punjab Police’s “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign marked its 330th day with the arrest of 50 drug smugglers. The police seized 150 grams of heroin and 376 intoxicant tablets and capsules from the arrested individuals. The total number of drug smugglers apprehended during the campaign has now reached 46,443 in just 330 days. Furthermore, eight individuals were persuaded to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment as part of the police’s efforts.
