After significant progress in the anti-drugs campaign ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’, the Punjab Police have initiated a new operation called ‘Gangstara Te War’ to eradicate gangsters from the state. The Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, announced the launch of this operation, stating that a massive crackdown involving 2,000 police teams and over 12,000 personnel is underway. These teams are conducting raids on locations associated with 60 foreign-based gangsters across Punjab as part of Operation Prahaar.
DGP Yadav, along with other key officials, emphasized the government’s commitment to eliminating the entire gangster ecosystem, including their support networks and criminal activities. He warned foreign-based gangsters that they will not be safe abroad for long and will be brought back to Punjab to face legal consequences. The police have identified 60 such gangsters operating from overseas with the help of local associates and have set up a special cell for their extradition.
In a bid to expedite the extradition process, Red Corner Notices have been issued against 23 identified gangsters, with plans to issue notices against the remaining 37 within the next three months. DGP Yadav urged misled youth to steer clear of criminal activities orchestrated by foreign-based gangsters and return to a lawful path. He also introduced an Anti-Gangster Helpline number for citizens to report criminal information anonymously and announced a cash reward of up to Rs 10 lakh for tips leading to gangster arrests.
