Punjab Police’s Special Operations Cell in Amritsar has successfully disrupted a Pakistan-backed terror module, preventing a major attack. The arrest of Shubham Kumar, alias Shubham Srivastav, from Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur, led to the recovery of an improvised explosive device (IED) and a foreign-made pistol with ammunition. This operation follows the recent apprehension of another operative, Rahul Kumar, alias Gaju, and the seizure of an RDX-based IED.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav revealed that the detained individual had links to a Pakistan-based handler through encrypted platforms. The intercepted terror package, sourced from across the border, was intended for targeted strikes in multiple states, including Punjab and Delhi. Further investigations are ongoing to dismantle the entire network behind these nefarious activities.
Assistant Inspector General Sukhminder Singh Mann shared that specific intelligence alerted the police to a consignment of IEDs and weapons smuggled from Pakistan via drone. The swift action of the police led to the arrest of Shubham Kumar and the recovery of dangerous materials near a dargarh on the Amritsar-Jalandhar GT Road. The suspect, enticed by the promise of a substantial reward, retrieved the illicit items from a designated location on the city outskirts as directed by his handler.
