Russia’s President Vladimir Putin will determine the ceasefire schedule with Ukraine for the ‘Victory Day’ festivities on May 9, as confirmed by the Kremlin spokesperson. Victory Day, observed annually on May 9, commemorates the Soviet victory and the surrender of Nazi Germany in 1945.
During a recent phone call with US President Donald Trump, Putin expressed his intention to announce a ceasefire for the Victory Day events. Trump, as reported by Russia’s Tass news agency, endorsed this proposal. Presidential spokesperson Dimitry Peskov, speaking in Moscow, mentioned the lack of response from the Kyiv regime regarding this initiative.
Peskov highlighted the challenges in instantly resolving global conflicts despite the positive dialogue between Putin and Trump. The two leaders agreed to continue mediation efforts for conflict resolution, although no specific dates have been set for further negotiations or official visits.
