PV Sindhu, a two-time Asian Games medalist, along with Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, the 2022 Asiad men’s doubles gold winners, will lead India’s badminton team at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan from September 19 to October 4, 2026. The Badminton Association of India (BAI) selection committee finalized the team based on recent performances and BWF rankings as of May 26, 2026.
The Indian team, captained by Lakshya Sen, includes experienced players like H. S. Prannoy and Kidambi Srikanth, who played key roles in India’s historic silver medal win in the previous edition. The squad also features emerging talents like Ayush Shetty, Tanvi Sharma, and Unnati Hooda, selected for their impressive international performances.
India’s General Secretary of BAI, Sanjay Mishra, highlighted the team’s blend of experience and emerging talent, expressing confidence in their ability to compete strongly at the Asian Games. Indian badminton has a successful history at the Asian Games, with 13 medals to date, including a gold in the last edition.
The Indian squad boasts strong pairs across categories, with Hariharan Amsakarunan and M. R. Arjun leading the men’s doubles team. Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand head the women’s doubles, supported by rising stars Simran Singhi and Kavipriya Selvam. Devika Sihag, Isharani Baruah, and Tharun Mannepalli strengthen India’s singles lineup. Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto bring additional depth to the doubles squad.
In the Individual Championships, India will compete in all five disciplines, with top players like Sen, Shetty, Sindhu, and Hooda leading the charge. The team is well-prepared to showcase their skills and make the nation proud at the upcoming Asian Games.
