R.N. Ravi, a former Intelligence Bureau officer and ex-Tamil Nadu Governor, was sworn in as the 22nd Governor of West Bengal. In his message, he highlighted the state’s rich intellectual and cultural heritage, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve. Ravi emphasized West Bengal’s historical significance as a hub of spiritual and cultural evolution.
West Bengal, according to Ravi, has been a center of ancient wisdom, with contributions to the teachings of Gautama Buddha and the Bhakti tradition. He praised the state for nurturing great visionaries during challenging times of foreign invasions. Ravi specifically mentioned revered figures like Swami Vivekananda, Rabindranath Tagore, and Subhas Chandra Bose.
Ravi expressed his reverence for the land by seeking wisdom and strength from Maa Durga to serve its people diligently. He succeeded C.V. Ananda Bose, who resigned abruptly, with Ravi’s appointment announced swiftly. Notably, Ravi is the second former IB officer to assume the role of West Bengal’s Governor in recent years, following M.K. Narayanan’s tenure before the state’s 2011 elections.
