Raghav Chadha, a Rajya Sabha member, revealed that he and six other MPs decided to exit the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) due to concerns about corruption within the party. This move, which includes MPs Swati Maliwal, Harbhajan Singh, Sandeep Pathak, Ashok Mittal, Rajinder Gupta, and Vikram Sahni, marks a significant shift in political allegiances as they plan to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Chadha emphasized that the group, representing a majority of AAP’s Rajya Sabha MPs, will officially merge with the BJP soon.
Chadha expressed disappointment with the direction of the AAP, stating that many dedicated members feel disillusioned and are leaving the party. He highlighted that elected MPs have the right to depart if they believe their party has strayed from its core values. Chadha clarified that their decision was not driven by fear but by a sense of disenchantment with the AAP’s leadership.
The recent exodus of seven MPs from the AAP, including Chadha, underscores the growing discontent within the party. Chadha cited the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ controversy as a pivotal factor in the AAP’s defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections. He urged the AAP to reflect on these issues and address concerns raised by the opposition, particularly regarding the ‘Sheesh Mahal 2’ images released by the BJP.
