Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the AIADMK leadership, accusing them of aligning with the BJP due to corruption. Speaking at an election rally in Kanniyakumari, Gandhi claimed that the AIADMK was now acting as a conduit for the BJP’s influence in Tamil Nadu. He also raised concerns about the RSS’s ideological impact, suggesting it was trying to exert control in the state through indirect methods.
Emphasizing the importance of state autonomy, Gandhi stressed the need for each state to maintain its unique identity. He criticized the BJP for promoting a uniform national identity, arguing that this approach undermines India’s diversity. Gandhi advocated for decentralized governance in Tamil Nadu, warning against centralizing power which could weaken the country’s democratic foundation.
In a more direct accusation, Gandhi alleged that US President Donald Trump had influenced PM Narendra Modi, who, in turn, sought to control Tamil Nadu politics through the AIADMK. Gandhi reaffirmed the DMK-Congress alliance’s commitment to safeguarding Tamil Nadu’s cultural and linguistic heritage. He urged voters to support the alliance to protect the state’s rights amidst increasing central interference.
Campaigning in Tamil Nadu has intensified as parties engage in verbal sparring ahead of the upcoming polls.
