Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, criticized the Central government for its handling of major national examinations, accusing it of damaging India’s education system and causing distress to millions of students. His comments followed technical glitches during the CUET-UG 2026 exam, leading to compensatory measures by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The criticism by Gandhi also referenced the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 due to a paper leak and concerns over the evaluation process of CBSE’s Class 12 board exams. In a social media post, Gandhi questioned the government’s educational achievements, highlighting the challenges faced by students across various examinations.
Gandhi warned that the government would be held accountable by the affected students for the repercussions of its failures. He emphasized the impact on the future generation and criticized the government’s inability to conduct exams honestly, despite its claims of educational excellence.
The controversies surrounding the examinations, including technical issues and evaluation discrepancies, have sparked nationwide protests and raised doubts about the credibility of the examination system.
