Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, speaking at an election rally in West Bengal, criticized the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise as anti-Constitutional. He pledged to reinstate voting rights for individuals removed from the electoral rolls. Gandhi accused the BJP and RSS of undermining the Constitution crafted by B.R. Ambedkar.
As per Gandhi, around 90,83,345 people in West Bengal are being disenfranchised due to the ongoing SIR process. Even those with pending cases at Appellate Tribunals risk losing their voting rights. Gandhi assured that if Congress comes to power, these individuals will be reinstated as voters. He emphasized that only Congress can effectively challenge the BJP, not the Trinamool Congress.
Gandhi asserted that the Trinamool Congress is incapable of countering the BJP’s tactics and violence. He claimed that only Congress has the strength to confront and defeat the BJP. Gandhi expressed confidence in Congress’s ability to stand up to the BJP and safeguard democracy. Later, he is scheduled to address another election rally in Murshidabad district.
