Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, expressed that if former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru were alive today, Bahujan leader Kanshi Ram would have been the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Gandhi shared these thoughts during a ‘Samajik Parivartan Divas’ event commemorating Kanshi Ram’s birth anniversary at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow.
Paying tribute to Kanshi Ram, Gandhi highlighted the leader’s lifelong commitment to advocating for equality and social justice for marginalized communities. He also acknowledged the Congress party’s historical shortcomings, recognizing the need for leaders like Kanshi Ram to forge their own political paths.
Gandhi criticized the current government, alleging a concentration of power and resources in the hands of a select few. He pointed out the lack of representation of Dalits, Other Backward Classes (OBCs), and Adivasis in key sectors like the bureaucracy, corporate world, and top management of major companies. Gandhi emphasized the importance of providing equal opportunities and fair representation to all segments of society, a principle he believes the Congress stands for.
