As Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, along with other senior Congress leaders, staged a sit-in near Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence, Congress MP Manickam Tagore claimed that party leaders were being detained by the police during the protest. Tagore emphasized the government’s use of police to hinder their demonstration, condemning such actions.
During the protest, Gandhi demanded the resignations of PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, holding them accountable for the mistreatment of students. The agitation, which included over 120 MPs, aimed to address the police action on protesters during a recent march to Parliament and the NEET paper leak issue. Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh also engaged in a conversation with Gandhi at the protest site.
Moreover, Congress MP Sukhdeo Bhagat criticized the government’s handling of the situation, accusing them of acting in a cowardly manner. He highlighted the need to hold PM Modi responsible for the violence against students and emphasized the genuine demand for justice in the face of mistreatment.
