Raijor Dal leader Akhil Gogoi stated that the formalities for an alliance with the Congress in Assam are nearing completion. He emphasized his party’s consistent support for this partnership. Discussions between the two parties are in advanced stages, with an official announcement anticipated shortly.
Gogoi highlighted that the alliance’s primary goal is to bolster the opposition against the BJP in Assam. He stressed the importance of unity among like-minded parties to uphold democratic values and address the state’s pressing issues. Seat-sharing and coordination mechanisms are currently under negotiation, with a focus on addressing people-centric concerns.
Akhil Gogoi emphasized the necessity of Raijor Dal’s inclusion in any meaningful alliance for the upcoming Assembly elections. He noted positive developments in the talks with the Congress, signaling progress towards a broader opposition front. While direct contact with Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi is pending, discussions with senior Congress leader Ripun Bora are ongoing.
The Raijor Dal leader also mentioned ongoing communication with Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) president Lurinjyoti Gogoi regarding the alliance process. Lurinjyoti Gogoi assured Akhil Gogoi of Raijor Dal’s integral role in any opposition arrangement. The opposition landscape in Assam has witnessed increased political activity as parties explore forming a united front against the ruling BJP.
