The Railway Protection Force (RPF) promptly responded to an incident where miscreants threw stones at the Shatabdi Express, which had Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on board. Two suspects, believed to be rag-pickers, were apprehended by the RPF and UP police in a joint operation after analyzing CCTV footage.

The stone-pelting occurred on Thursday evening as the Lucknow-New Delhi Swarn Shatabdi Express, carrying Mohan Bhagwat, passed through Firozabad station of Prayagraj division. Although the AC first-class coach’s windowpane was shattered, neither Bhagwat nor any passengers were harmed during the incident.

Railways Additional Director General (ADG) SK Bhagwat stated that the stone struck the window of seat number 54 in the AC first-class coach, causing no injuries or interior damage. Following the incident, additional RPF personnel were deployed at Tundla station for enhanced security, and an investigation was initiated by the local police and RPF under section 152 of the Railway Act.

The police apprehended two suspects identified through CCTV footage, one of whom was seen throwing a stone at the passing Express train. A detailed investigation is underway to ascertain any potential malicious intent behind the stone-pelting incident.
