Raj Thackeray, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Chief, slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly using money and power to manipulate the democratic process. During a rally alongside his cousin Uddhav Thackeray, he accused the BJP of offering a massive sum of Rs 15 crore to influence candidates in the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation elections. Thackeray questioned the source of such funds, highlighting concerns over widespread corruption.
Thackeray also raised issues about candidates winning unopposed and questioned the integrity of the electoral system. He criticized Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for failing to fulfill promises made during the 2017 elections, particularly regarding Nashik’s development. Thackeray pointed out incomplete projects and accused the BJP of prioritizing divisive tactics over genuine progress.
Furthermore, Thackeray criticized the Maharashtra government’s decision to cut trees for the upcoming Kumbh Mela, contrasting it with the environmentally friendly approach taken during the MNS’s tenure in 2012. He emphasized his past achievements in Nashik, such as clearing municipal debt and implementing effective waste management systems. Thackeray urged voters not to compromise their values for monetary gains and called for support for the Shiv Sena-MNS alliance in Nashik’s development.
